Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund
Since the advent of Hurricane Sandy, AYNY has been supporting the relief efforts with on the ground assistance since November 1st.
We have been collecting donations of blankets, flashlights, batteries, new winter clothes, non-perishable food, diapers, wipes, toiletries and other necessities, and making daily deliveries to the Rockaways.
For those who would like to donate to our efforts, you can be assured that all donations will be designated to the victims of Sandy. We have absolutely no administrative overhead.
We are as well working with two dynamic and selfless individuals who are stationed in Rockaway and are leading amazing grassroots relief work, Michelle Cortez and Pastor Neron Tillman. They have been providing invaluable assistance to those whose lives have been devastated by the storm, and who continue to live without power, heat, or hot water, and in many cases without adequate food and water.
We will continue to provide these services and support for as long as necessary. Once the power is restored, the needs of the Rockaways will change, and our efforts will shift towards creative ways to help with longer range help for the local residents.
Thank you very much,

We provide Ashtanga Yoga instruction to in-need and at-risk communities in New York City. This therapeutic practice, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of South India (1915-2009), promotes health and healing by stimulating and supporting positive physiological and behavioral habits, including circulation and respiration, digestive assimilation and elimination, regularity and effectiveness of exercise, and kindness and empathy towards ourselves and others.
